Here’s a quick breakdown of tonight’s matchup between the Wildcats (17-13, 8-10 Big Ten) and the Golden Hurricane (24-10, 12-4 Conference USA).

This is the first meeting between the two schools. Tulsa fell 64-39 Saturday against Memphis in the C-USA conference tournament championship game. Northwestern has had almost a week to recover from its 66-53 loss to Minnesota in the first round of the Big Ten tournament.

NU is making its fourth postseason tournament appearance, previously reaching the NIT in 1983, 1994 and 1999. The Cats are 2-3 all-time in the tournament. Tulsa is making its ninth NIT appearance, a year after winning the inaugural College Basketball Invitational. The Golden Hurricane captured NIT titles in 1981 and 2001.

Tulsa is led by junior 7-foot center Jerome Jordan, who is averaging 14.0 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. He is rivaled by second-team All-Big Ten forward Kevin Coble, who leads the Cats with 15.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
